The Huawei S5731-S48P4X is a high-performance, next-generation gigabit Ethernet switch designed for enterprise and campus networks. It features 48 × 10/100/1000Base-T PoE+ ports and 4 × 10GE SFP+ uplink ports, housed in a 1U chassis measuring 442 mm × 420 mm × 43.6 mm and weighing 8.8 kg including packaging. The switch supports a pluggable 1000 W AC PoE power supply with a rated AC input of 100 V–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz, a maximum AC range of 90 V–290 V AC, and high-voltage DC input from 190 V–290 V DC. Maximum power consumption is 132 W without PD and 1750 W with PD, including 1440 W PD consumption.
The S5731-S48P4X is designed for efficient operation with air cooling, intelligent fan speed adjustment, and pluggable fans. Noise levels under normal temperature are 52.8 dB(A) sound pressure and 62.3 dB(A) sound power, rising to 71.8 dB(A) sound power under high temperatures. It operates from -5°C to 45°C at altitudes up to 1800 m, with operating temperature decreasing by 1°C for every 220 m above 1800 m, storage temperature from -40°C to 70°C, and relative humidity of 5%–95% non-condensing. Surge protection is ±6 kV for both service ports (common mode) and power ports (differential and common mode).
MAC and VLAN capabilities include 32K MAC address entries, static/dynamic/blackhole entries, MAC-based packet filtering, 4094 VLANs, guest and voice VLANs, GVRP, MUX VLAN, VLAN assignment by MAC, protocol, IP subnet, policy, or port, and VLAN mapping. Ethernet loop protection supports RRPP, Smart Link, SEP, ERPS (G.8032), and BFD for OSPF, IS-IS, VRRP, and PIM. Spanning tree protocols supported include STP, RSTP, MSTP, with BPDU, root, and loop protection.
Routing features include static routes, RIP v1/v2, RIPng, OSPF/OSPFv3, IS-IS/IS-ISv6, BGP/BGP4+, ECMP, and routing policies, supporting up to 16K FIBv4 and 8K FIBv6 entries. Interoperability includes VBST, LNP, and VCMP. IPv6 support includes ND entries, PMTU, IPv6 Ping, Tracert, Telnet, ACLs, MLD snooping, VRRP6, DHCPv6, and L3VPN support.
Multicast support includes IGMP v1/v2/v3 snooping, fast leave, VLAN-based multicast forwarding, inter-VLAN replication, load balancing, controllable multicast, port-based multicast statistics, as well as PIM-SM, PIM-DM, PIM-SSM, MSDP, and MVPN.
QoS and ACLs include inbound/outbound rate limiting, packet redirection, port-based traffic policing, two-rate three-color CAR, eight queues per port, DRR, SP, DRR+SP scheduling, WRED, remarking of 802.1p and DSCP fields, Layer 2–4 packet filtering, and queue-based shaping.
Security features include hierarchical user management, password protection, DoS/ARP/ICMP defense, IP-MAC-port-VLAN binding, port isolation, port security, sticky MAC, MAC Forced Forwarding, blackhole MAC entries, MAC learning limits, IEEE 802.1x, AAA, RADIUS, HWTACACS, NAC, SSH V2.0, HTTPS, CPU protection, blacklists/whitelists, IPv6 attack tracing, Secure Boot, IPSec, ECA, and deception.
