Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) Standard

Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), the latest IEEE 802.11 wireless standard, is designed to deliver better performance in high-density environments while supporting both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. With MU-MIMO on both frequency bands, an AP can send and receive data from multiple clients at the same time, significantly improving the usage of radio spectrum resources. The addition of 1024-QAM boosts data efficiency by up to 25% compared with Wi-Fi 5 (256-QAM).
OFDMA allows multiple users to transmit data simultaneously, reducing delay and increasing network efficiency. Spatial Reuse (SR) uses BSS coloring to distinguish between overlapping BSSs, minimizing co-channel interference.
Target Wake Time (TWT)* further improves device battery life by allowing APs and clients to negotiate wake/sleep schedules.

Features marked with () are available through software upgrades.*

MU-MIMO

This AP supports MU-MIMO with up to four spatial streams—two at 2.4 GHz (2×2 MIMO) and two at 5 GHz (2×2 MIMO). By transmitting data to multiple clients at once, MU-MIMO effectively doubles radio resource utilization, increases user capacity and bandwidth, and enhances performance in busy, high-density areas.

High-Speed Access

Thanks to its support for 160 MHz channel bandwidth, the AP offers more subcarriers and wider transmission channels. Combined with 1024-QAM and MU-MIMO, it delivers speeds of 0.575 Gbps on 2.4 GHz, 2.4 Gbps on 5 GHz, and 2.975 Gbps total throughput.

High Density Boost Technology

Huawei integrates several advanced technologies to address typical high-density challenges such as congestion, poor roaming, and slow data rates.

SmartRadio Air Interface Optimization

  • Smart roaming load balancing: After a device roams, the AP uses load-balancing algorithms to distribute users evenly across the network, improving stability.

  • Intelligent DFA: Automatically detects adjacent-channel and co-channel interference and identifies redundant 2.4 GHz radios. These radios can be disabled or switched to another mode (including 5 GHz on dual-5G models) to reduce interference.

  • Conflict optimization: Enhanced EDCA and airtime scheduling ensure users receive fair access to radio resources, improving overall efficiency.

Air Interface Performance Optimization

In crowded scenarios, low-rate devices occupy excessive airtime and reduce overall capacity. Huawei APs detect weak-signal clients during access and block them from joining. They also monitor connected devices in real time and disconnect persistently low-rate clients, prompting them to connect to APs with stronger signals. This helps maintain spectrum efficiency and increases the number of users that can be served.

5 GHz-Preferred Access (Band Steering)

Since both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands are supported, the AP automatically guides devices to the 5 GHz band first. This reduces congestion and interference on 2.4 GHz, improving user experience and network performance.

Wired and Wireless Dual-Layer Security

Huawei APs combine strong wired and wireless security mechanisms to ensure safe, reliable communication.

Wireless Authentication and Encryption

The APs support multiple authentication and encryption standards, including WEP, WPA/WPA2-PSK, WPA3-SAE, PPSK, 802.1X (WPA/WPA2/WPA3), and WAPI. These mechanisms verify user identity and protect data transmitted over wireless links so that only authorized devices can access and interpret the information.

Rogue Device Detection

With built-in WIDS/WIPS, the APs can detect, classify, and defend against rogue devices. This strengthens air interface security and prevents unauthorized access or threats.

Secure Wired Access for APs

AP access control verifies the legitimacy of APs connecting to the network. CAPWAP link protection and DTLS encryption safeguard data exchanged between the AP and the WLAN AC, ensuring secure communication.

Automatic Radio Calibration

Automatic radio calibration allows the AP to collect signal strength and channel information from nearby APs and build a real-time topology. Based on interference from authorized APs, rogue APs, and non-Wi-Fi sources, the AP automatically adjusts its transmit power and operating channel. This ensures the network operates at optimal performance, improving both reliability and user experience.
